Most children don't like water, I know I had to force my kids to drink it when they were little but I refused to give them anything else. Unfortunately my mum just gave me cordial. And that's all I drink today. Or flavoured water. I try and drink water, even almost dehydrate myself at times so I'm extra thirsty. Doesn't help. It makes me gag. I feel I would be so much healthier if I drank water I don't know how to stop being so stupid and just drink water.
Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe try putting some fresh lemon and lime in icy cold water and drink it that way.
Im not a big water drinker either. I've managed to up it a bit with drinking low sugar cordial and gradually reducing the concentration until I might as well drink water. Id say my water/juice intake is 50-50 but the hard bit for me was cutting back fizzy drinks so im happy to just have plenty fluids even if the water is sometimes flavoured. Diet rite cordial is quite good as low sugar ones go.
Try just flavouring the water with fruit, like lemon as already said, or another i just stumbled on and is really nice is strawberries and a few mint leaves.
I agree with the lemon or lime. Also maybe try soda water too ..
I never drink plain water, it makes me gag too. According to my doctor it is not a problem - the body uses the water from your cordial as it would use plain water, and uses the sugar etc as it would if it were from any other source too.
Have just reposted on the Facebook group too and hope someone is able to help. Big hugs! xKelly
Try adding some sweet fruit to the water instead. Try diluting the cordial or juice down a little bit more each time. I disagree with the comment that it does not matter. Yes, may not matter so much for hydration levels, but the added sugar, preservatives etc to your diet is huge if you are drinking an adequate amount each day.
Try weaning off cordial, make it slightly weaker each week until there is hardly any left. Try adding fresh fruit and herbs like mint to the water and have it ready in the fridge. We use natural cordial company, very little sugar and no artificial sweeteners.
Flavour infused water :)
In a jug slice 1/2 a lemon, orange and a few strawberries. Yummy. You can add any fruit to it.
Have you tried cold ice water with fresh sliced lemon & lime or other fruits that can give a subtle flavour to the water? I love my water & have drink approx. 2L a day. I don't think your stupid at all :) You could also try using a Soda stream & put bubbles in the water (no flavour) that may help. Good luck!
Try making your own ice tea?! Rooibos doesn't have any caffeine in it and is full of antioxidants, brew tea as normal but poor over a big glass full of ice.
You could replace the cordial with fruit juice? Maybe start with 50/50 juice and water then reduce the amount of juice slowly over time? Also, or alternatively, you could try drinking sparkling water? The bubbles might help avoid the gagging reflex? But it might be more expensive though.
If you wanted to try sparkling water you could get a soda stream and fizz it yourself. I find it much easier to drink water if it's in a drink bottle and we recently got a water filter and the water tastes so much better than regular water.
You could make your own juice instead or iced tea. Also try to eat high water content fruit and vegies. Any water from food you eat counts to your daily water intake. You could also try filtered water- maybe buy a purifier or cold water... another option is eating icecubes. It still counts.
I was the same, never drank water my health was suffering badly. It's a hard habit to break and to this day I still can't drink tap water, I only drink bottled water and I often drink it with a squeeze of lemon my naturopath said the lemon actually helps you Obsorb it into your body. To start with I cleared all other drinks from the house other then milk (no cordial, juice, soft drinks) and always have a bottle with you so it's not an effort to drink it....
I don't drink water either. And as I am intolerant to citric acid, I also can't put lemon or lime in to help. I make up incredibly weak diet cordial. It's not pleasant, but it doesn't make me gag so I can at least get some water in my days.
