husband lost his job with no notice

Hi all, I want to start by saying I'm not asking for hand outs....just helpful advice. My husband and I have 5 kids and one on the way which is very high risk already. We have had a hard year financially but so have many others and we were pushing on through. Untill this morning when my husband went to work and got told to go back home as he no longer has a job. I know the company has a new owner and my husband was just casual but I didn't expect that at all. So now I'm freaking out....I was already worried christmas would be crap for the kids but now, I don't even know how we'll afford rent and food let alone presents. I'm trying not to stress but I feel so lost and really don't know what to do. Any advice on people I can talk to or places I can go would be great as we've never been in this position before and don't know where to turn. Thanks in advance.

bugger!!! speak to fair work australia, even if he is casual if he has been working regular shifts that may not be allowed casual staff are still protected under australian law.
Of course centrelink should be contacted you would be entitled to rent assistance in top of his unemployment. Depending on your savings places like the salvos, anglicare etc can help you out. Also let your real estate agent know what has happened, believe it or not when you give them the heads up before hand they can be much more understanding. Also look up your local housing commission website as some states (like SA) have rent programs that help in emergencies. Also some salvos etc can assist with things like financial counselling to help you formulate a plan through this.
