You'll be so busy you will have hardly any time to spend chatting to people. By the time you fuss with food, drinks, games, presents and kids you won't have time to get beyond a simple 'hello, it's nice to meet you' and 'thanks for coming'.
So I'd just concentrate on jobs you'll need to do. And remember that the other parents will be nervous too.
Thanks heaps for your advice, I'll try keep it in mind. I guess I live on the "worse" side of town and a lot of these parents are upper class. I'm afraid of them judging me, my family and my house. Not a lot of people accept the fact that just cos your a little bit less better off financially, doesn't mean your less of a good person. Just so nervous :s
Don't attempt to mind read! You have no idea where those people have come from. They may live in 'nice' areas now but that doesn't mean they always did or only socialise with people in those areas. Most people aren't as shallow as you imagine them :)
