My brother is 20 years old. I am 27. He has ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder). I grew up in a hectic household and he made life super difficult and nearly killed me several times. I have a lot of resentment towards him. These days I am married and have 2 kiddies. Although I still cant stand my brother I feel for him. He is 20, living at my parents place, too scared to go for his license due to being illiterate (even though I told him the test can be read to him), is 6"3 and weighs maybe 160kg and will not leave the house in fear people will see how large he has gotten. His hygiene is terrible. He sits in his room all day and plays his xbox/ps3. Sleeps till 1pm up till 4am. Obviously he is depressed but it is sooo difficult to get him out of the house. My parents want to move but dont want to have to support him. They arent terrible people but they have completely been enablers his whole life which doesnt help. I am writing because I want to know ways to help him get out of his ways and get him up and living. I have to tread carefully due to his aggressiveness with me since childhood. My parents are well off and I know if there were some good suggestions I could throw at them then they may pay to help him. I have suggested a psychologist friend but getting him there would be impossible. I was thinking along the lines of a PT to lose weight. A life coach or something of some sort for motivation.. I really dont know. Please help me help him.

He needs to see a psychologist/psychiatrist but first needs to see a GP. It may help to get a social worker involved. You would have to get him to the GP first. Your parents would have to be prepared to change there behaviour otherwise it will all mean nothing. Also look into private psychiatric facilities.
