I'm a single mum of two kids 3&6 yo DD. I have a successful career but the seperation has left me with a v large mortgage and no equity - basically can't sell. I cannot keep my house clean. After work I do the mummy thing dinner books bath bed reading n special time with girls. When they are in bed last thing I want to do is clean. Wash hang out clothes ect. I can't afford to pay a cleaner, have no family in my Town
My question is : how do you do it. What are your tips for cleaning your house

Have you thought about renting out your house and renting something cheaper? It might just be enough to ease some pressure financially.
As far as housework goes I try and multi task, so while the kids are in the bath I used to wipe over the sink and toilet.
Dinner I used to cook in bulk so I just had to reheat and maybe make a salad. I found making double or triple took no more time than cooking once and less cleaning up and really eased the pressure on other nights.
I made sure there was enough clothes and school uniforms etc that I only washed on Saturday morning or once a week and I also did a proper clean Saturday morning and so the rest of the week I only had dishes to do.
I made sure the kids do the jobs they are capable if for there age. Putting there dishes in the sink, putting dirty clothes in the basket, packing there toys away before bed. These are life skills that children need to learn so counts as quality time.
As far as washing towels, reuse towels for a week, if the child is clean after there bath it takes longer than one use for a towel to be dirty.
Bed making was and is still optional in this house.
Are you a morning person? I find it impossible to clean the house after the kids are in bed, once they're asleep I just want to sit on my ass and relax so I try and do most the house work in the morning like a load of laundry (guess it depends how much time you have before work though).
