I have a beautiful 10 month old and need to wean her off breastfeeding at 12 months so I can work full time. The problem is she won't take a bottle or sippy cup so I'm worried about how she will get enough fluids. We've been trying her with various types of bottles since she was 6 weeks old and more recently with different types of cups. We've tried having other people give her the bottle, give it to her when I'm not there, when she's sleepy, wide awake, after a feed, when she's really hungry... The fact is she just loves the boob.
Any other IM's been through this and can help my find a way to get liquids into my daughter? TIA!

Once they hit 12m they can often go the day with just water or other milk and breastfeed when they're back with you (so you don't *have* to wean when you go back to work).
Otherwise, have you tried a straw or open cup?
I tried a bottle they use to sell in australia when I had my first now only on ebay. They are pricey but just for the transfer faze were especially amazing. you can only buy them on ebay now. They are different to a normal bottle. The Brand is Adiri... and they come in 3 sizes I think I had the half orange and clear one for mine and it looks like a nippe and it worked really well for us. I cant remember wether I went straight to formula or did half formula half breast. Goodluck.x
I agree with those that have said you don't need to wean , you can do morning ,afternoon and bedtime feeds. My kids were both the same , wouldn't take a bottle or cup til they were much older, maybe 18 mths and then only water . I allowed them to self wean and so they both weaned around 3 years . If she is thirsty during the day and you aren't there she may take a bottle or cup of water or even milk . Maybe try going out for a couple of hours and get your partner or whoever will be caring for her try to get her to take a cup or bottle?
