I have found laying my daughter down with a little bit of a tilt down helps... also as another mum said if old enough try nurophen as it's better tasting

We use the purple bottle here (Forget what it's called) or nurofen. Panadol is horrible. Saving that, push the syringe down the side of the mouth into the back of the cheek to near where the teeth end (obviously don't stab them in the mouth with it) and squirt it there. They can't push it out with their tongue and have to swallow it

Firstly Nurofen is worse for humans than panadol is and I've been told by many doctors to avoid giving it to my child unless we're treating an infection. So I disagree with previous answers on that point.
Practise putting water in the syringe then position the syringe alongside the cheek towards the back of the mouth. Squirt a small amount of water at a time and allow a gap for your bub to swallow.
My child has been having probiotics from an early age via syringe and can almost syringe it in on their own now! Will take water, panadol, antibiotics, probiotics, nurofen or anything I pop in there!
