In home sleep consultants?

In home sleep consultants?

Hi I was just wondering if any mums in Melbourne have used a sleep consultant that they can recommend? I'm having trouble getting my 8 week old to sleep longer for 30 mins at a time and it is really starting to take its toll on me as I have another 2 children to tend to and I can't as I'm spending up to 30 mins at a time to get baby to sleep (by rocking or being held) only for him to sleep for half an hour and then I have to repeat the process. If u have any advice also that would be great!

I used SOS Lullababy, Elaine Harvey at the Gold Coast; however, I got her in when DS was 5months old and he was only just old enough then to go through the sleep training (and even then I coppped a lot of flack from friends and family for doing it so early, though it was much needed and best thing for us all in the end). Elaine is on facebook. You could always ask what age is appropriate to do sleep training..... Do you baby wear, by using a sling or a baby bjorn? Might that help at all getting about doing things for your other two? You could still do what you need to and your little, little 8 week old can sleep still hearing your heart beat....?

We had the exact same problem with our daughter. We took her to early parenting class or sleep school as some call it, at a public hospital. Its a one day class that focuses mainly on sleeping. Best thing is its totally free, all covered by medicare. Talk to you health care nurse and ask her to refer you to the closest one, (you can self refer if you find which hospital does it) we were in Gippsland. Wait was around 4 weeks but it was worth it. They put bub to sleep the first nap, then the second they showed us techniques to try and keep her sleeping longer. I would try that option first before spending heaps on an in home consultant.
