Helping my daughter adjust after separation.

Helping my daughter adjust after separation.

Hi IM's

My husband and I separated 5 months ago. My 2.5 year old and I moved interstate to live with my mum due to finances and so she could help me through such a difficult and traumatic time. Where we lived previously I had no family support at all.

My DD and husband skype daily and we are still friendly for her sake. He comes to visit every 3 months. She has recently starting asking often when we are going home to live with daddy? When will daddy come and live with us? Telling people we are going home to live with daddy etc. I understand she is adjusting and also coming to terms with such a huge change (I am also due with baby #2 in 9 weeks yes it's my husbands) I always answer her questions with we live here now, daddy and mummy don't live together anymore etc. she dosent get upset by the answers but will then ask again a few days later.

Does anyone have any experience in this kind of thing? How do I get through to her that we are not going back there?

I would have done anything to get my family back together by my husband has since moved on and a reconciliation is not on the cards.

Any advice or words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Thanks
