In the last 6 months life has gone from living comfortably to barely living at all. I am physically about to fall in a heap. Due to a major medical incident in the family we are no longer in a good place, myself, hubby and the kids.
I know my children dont need much but does anyone know how you get onto those places that give kids a small gift for Christmas or something. I am so upset that my children will have nothing this year. I am dreading my youngest and my eldest birthdays as they are both Xmas babies, one of them was born Boxing Day :( I dont even have money left after paying the bills for food or petrol and although I am only in debt to Telstra and Origin currently, I try to pay my rent and car payment on time each week as I cant afford to default on either, I still have more bills coming. I dont have credit cards so thats not the problem. I guess I just need a vent and some ideas. Thanks IM's

Contact the salvos, your local churches, anglicare. Also ask your GP if they can refer you to a social worker. Social workers are excellent at finding support sevices.
There are organisations that give you free xmas baskets with food etc some even ask if you have children and giftwrap a present each according to gender and age (st vinnies, salvos) you can also get up to $200 help with your power bill, also they give you food vouchers... my last xmas, I got all that i just wrote. It helped immensely. I was struggling as a new single mum of two. I taught my children that gifts are nice but not important. They value anything they receive and are grateful. This xmas, we still wont have much, but we have a roof over our heads? & food.. we are better off than some. You will be fine!
Oops the emoticon shouldnt be there ... typo!
Hi,
How old and what sex are your kids? I have been in your shoes and am fortunate enough that have come out the other side! Let me help?!?! If you can give me that info and a postal address, I'd like to send some things through! I buy through the year for my three and there is always more than they need when I get to the end of the year. You can reply here or email me at soniacsinger@gmail.com :) xx
Do you have a concession card? You can apply for a utility relief grant for your gas and electricity. I know they do it in Victoria. Not sure about other states.
