Is he starting to like girls?

I know this is a sensitive topic for some
But I was needing some advice regarding 7/8 yr olds
Recently my son saw a show (live) which starred a few female performers (hip hop dancing)
And although he loves this type of thing he refused to look at the stage when it was just girls on it, only when there were boys on it (with girls as well just not girls alone)

Is this normal behaviour?
Is this a signal that he's probably beginning to like them and just doesn't understand it
Or could it be a sign of something else (not that anything would be a problem for me I love my son )

Just seeking advice off parents regarding these times
