Has anyone experienced 'pulled elbow' with their babies?

Hi there, im new to the page but am loving it so far.
I have a question to ask your followers,
My 7 month old has just had whats called a 'pulled elbow' where the bones in the forearm slightly dislocates from the cartilage around the elbow joint. It has happened twice and doctors have put it back in place quite easily and quickly. Im curious if anyone else has experienced this and whether it has happened multiple times before they grow out of it? There hasnt been any trauma as the doctors keep mentioning... no falls, no pulling of the arms, im confident it is from the way she rolls from her back to her belly. She is a very active 7 month old.

Thank you all. x

I was working with a child and held her hand to start to walk and dislocated her elbow. I was horrified. Her mum later told me that it happened all the time and doctors said she would eventually grow our of it. I felt dreadful :( but if the mum had told me she had a predisposition before I worked with the child it probably wouldn't have happened.

I have looked after kids for 20 odd years and have had three kids with this. Yes they do grow out of it. The main thing to do is ensure as she gets older that when she swings on things that she uses both arms equally. It usually sorts itself by 2 1/2 to 3 years old (probably not what you wanted to hear). We did take one child to a paediatric oestoeopath and did some exercises to help strengthen the muscles. My daughter did it and it freaked me out - she was having a tantrum and Dad was holding her hand, she just dropped her weight and twisted around. Scary.
Be careful with any clothing with wrist cuffs, as this is a common way for them to pop, also when she's standing holding onto things with one arm, her weight as she falls down can pull it out, so that's when I start the mantra - two arms baby, hold on with two arms ;) It does pass.

We haven't had it happen but it is VERY common in little kids.

My niece used to do this all the time, right up until she was about 7, She seems to have grown out of it now, the docs used to have to put it back in for her. Not nice but very common
