Girls with add/adhd. How did you know?

I am the single mum of an 8yo girl. From the day she was mobile she is what you might call wiggly. She seems to find it very hard to sit still. It takes her hours to fall asleep at night and in that time she is awake she distroys her room from boredom. Nothing ever gets finished. She is very smart but finds it very hard to concentrate and be still. For years I've joked she has add/adhd. Last week after a discussion with the deputy head at school about some problems my girl is having with her teacher, the deputy suggested getting her tested. She said girls often slip through the diagnosis noose as they dont display the same symptoms as boys who tend to be more angry and violent. My question is any mums with girls with this issue what were the signs and how did you treat/help the issue so your girls can settle and concentrate better without changing who they are.

My 4 year old has just been diagnosed ADHD and autistic. It's true, girl don't usually get diagnosed until around 8 years old as their signs and symptoms are completely different to boys. My daughter is very much the same, she is easily distracted, she can't sit still to even eat. She is up and down from the table constantly. To start, try a diet change (check out FEDUP) we took away preservatives and additives and it made a small difference (some people have huge success and it makes a huge difference) when my daughter is given something with artificial colours it is very obvious. She is all over the place, she rambles on, she is very rough and when it's wearing off.....there's massive meltdowns, screaming, tears and no reasoning with her. Good luck and I hope you find some answers :)
