Food for my children.

Food for my children.

I have 3 healthy and very energetic boys (2, 4, 6). They are ALWAYS hungry and I am having trouble keeping up to their food demands. I need some ideas for healthy, filling, cheap food (snacks mainly). They are all on the slimmer side (not skinny just slim and muscular) and eat between 1800 and 2400 calories each day. They are getting all their required macro and micro nutrients but eat more simple carbs than I would like in order to maintain their calorie intake. They have ample protein in their diet. They do allot of sports and activities and I know that contributes to their constant hunger. But it seems insatiable. I am looking for some food ideas to satisfy them for longer. This is not about their weight, more about their comfort, health and my feelings of failure (and my pocket LOL). TIA

It sounds really normal! Make sure they are drinking enough water as some people mistake thirst for hunger. Kids need to eat way more often than we do.

What about bliss or protein balls with nut butters (if they can have them), filling and good for them. Homemade muesli bars with oats, dried fruit and seeds; veggies with dips; air popped popcorn; yoghurt (full fat) etc. Even little mini quiches, savory muffins and stuff like that. You can make a huge batch and keep in the freezer. You sound like you have a great handle on their nutrition but with them eating constantly I can understand it can be hard to keep up! Haha.
