Can anyone help please. Following medical advice, we have just started an elimination diet for my 13 mth old and would like to know if there are any parents out there that have done this too. How did you about it? What was your experience? We went to the allergy clinic in Newstead. Thx

I've done it but I had a rough idea as to what it was n I was right Dairy. Complete dairy allergies.
its started with temperatures, belly aches, vomiting n diarrhea.
she can only eat limited foods with dairy in them n they are the ones with next to none in it.
my advice is to start with the large food groups, like dairy, wheat, soy. ECT it takes anywhere from 4-8 weeks to get it completely out of their system n to be able to see a change.
or you could go straight back to what u did when bub first started eating. 1 new food every few days, mainly fruit n vegies n meat (non processed as much as possible) then start bringing in new foods. Leave dairy til last. You can use things like rice milk, almond milk, soy (but be careful as soy contains similar proteins as cows milk does n most ppl allergic to dairy also are to soy)
we use almond milk which my 2 year old loves n drinks more then 1 litre a day. N soy yogurt as I have no other options with yogurt. No replacement for cheese that tastes nice.
chocolate n sweets from Coles vegan section. Expensive but we don't have much choice. My girl can eat non dairy chocolate from that section.
once u know what it is, makes life easier... Expensive but easier.
overall it took us 8 months to come to full dairy allergies as we started with lactose, then A2 milk for a possible protien then realized it was full dairy as cheese n yogurt were the worst n se refused bottle flat n would spew.then the smallest amount made her sick, even in cooking.
first allergies test came back clear even though its obvious she has a reaction to it. Waiting to get prick tests done in next few weeks but had to wait til 2 year mark.
sorry its long, hope it helps.
Thank fully he isn't allergic to anything, the tests came back clear and he doesn't react after he has eaten something, he reacts later at night
I have intolerance to eggs or mild allergy.
I vomit n diarrhea but it can take hours to show up depending on what n how much I eat of it.
I also have a friend whose insides bleed from dairy but all tests came back clear n again depends on amount n what he eats as to how fast it effects him.
all I mean is he could still be allergic/intolerance to it even if tests say otherwise.
I'm anaphylactic to kiwi fruit as well, both egg n kiwi fruit only came on in adulthood n I used to eat both lots. Its a pain to have to think about it all.
Thanks, l'll keep the diary in mind if this diet is not working. I have always thought about milk protein intolerance but he always put on more than average weight and there would be times where he would go weeks without waking up at night with bad wind. The crap thing is atm his molars are making an appearance and is affecting his sleep so I don't know if this diet is working yet. Argh
