Fines, Tax and consequences

Can you also post to FB anon? Thanks!

Hello IM's

Question for you, I know he's not the only one!

My SO, who I do not live with, but would like to one day (a whole other story), is in debt for Eastlink fines to the tune of maybe 20K. He has also not done his tax in 5 + years, and is self employed. This all occurred during his relationship breakdown - no excuse -and now it is catching up with him. Tax office and Sheriffs are hunting him. I've been trying to get him to face up to it, and he has been resisting. But now, its coming, personally I think he deserves it, but that's not the point. Can someone tell me where to go first, what resources to use, and what the outcome may be?
Love your work ladies, so support will be appreciated, and nasty comments will not :) This was all before my time, and he knows he's an idiot.Thank you x

He should seek legal advice, and contact an accountant.

Re the Eastlink fines - he can apply for a payment arrangement. It's pretty easy - he just has to nominate the amount he can/wants to pay each month, show some evidence of his cashflow (I just had to write it down on the form). He just has to ask the people sending the letters for the paperwork. It stops all action against him. Tell him to get a Breeze tag now though, and prevent further fines.

I can recommend a great accountant if you're on or near the Mornington Peninsula.
