feeling miserable

Where do I start ..
I have a 15 year old son (16 in December) he has a chronic bowel condition that means he is in pain all day every day. He has bleeding, fecal incontinence, intense stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation as I have been a sole parent his entire life I have been waiting for the gastroenterologist from the public hospital to see him. This has taken almost a year. In this time he has missed a year of school ( grade 10 ) and has developed suicidal depression. He has seen the psychiatric unit to assist with this.i am struggling big time. He is so upset about having to do year 10 without his friends. I guess what im asking is can I just get a hug or some sort of support to let me know someone out there cares

*cyber hug* I'm sorry he's going through this, and you too.

I care, my son has a very rare condition that makes him and I housebound for long periods of time. It is so hard watching your child be sick.

As a sole parent myself don't rule out going private. A lot of private specialists do bulk bill. Your GP should be able to help you find one who will.

I have never not been bulk billed for my son and we have never gone public EVER.

PS it is worth making a crowd funding page to go private, you'd be amazed what you can raise.

*hug* he will be ok. Focus on his health first. Due to illness I had to do the same in year 11. Withdraw and go back to finish. It will be ok. He will likely encounter his friends again and make some new ones. Doing 11 and 12 over three years is more common now.

My husband also suffers from chronic bowel problems for the past 10 years 9 surgerys later and 6 fistulas later they have deemed him unfixable and basically gave him a very short time to live due to loss of so much bowel. But he found a way to make his everyday life more easy he takes a powder with pro biotics and heaps of other things like sylium that have brought him from going to the tiolet 30 times a day to 2 times. I hope you find your answer or a way to deal with it. Good luck

I am wondering what state you live in?
I have been down this very path with my son.
I would love to be able to share with you, what has helped us along the way ?
