Excess hair removal? Anyone have a happy hair free ending?

Hi. I have had excess body hair since I hit puberty. First I had a few stray black hairs on my chin and neck and now in my 30's and 3 kids later I have sideburns, a hairy chest, hairy nipples, a snail trail, a goatee, and hair sprouting all over my neck. I was diagnosed with PCOS but since losing weight a couple of years ago I no longer have cysts and they have said I have it no longer. I have had a billion blood tests on my thyroid and hormones and they've all come back as normal. I have recently been looking into getting IPL as the prices have come down considerably but I am so worried it won't work or it will make the problem even worse. I am fair and my excess hair is dark. I have been on the pill before which helped a little but no longer. Does anyone that suffers with excess hair have a happy ending? I just want it gone. I hate it.

Laser was very successful for a friend of mine. The hardest part was making sure the hair was long enough before treatment. She used to have to shave daily and no longer has to. She gets the odd stray hair that can be easily plucked. Said it was well worth it.

I haven't gone the IPL route YET but have also always had dark hair (in places I would prefer not to, including on and between my breasts, sides of my face and on my upper lip, between my eyebrows etc). I think mine is just crappy genetics because I don't have PCOS. My friend who has PCOS had IPL done not long ago and from what I gather it has been very successful for her. I have been advised that I would be an excellent candidate for IPL and plan to get it done in the next 12 months or so. As far as I know it will not get worse with IPL, though I believe you will always need maintenance work done though it will not be nearly as frequent as waxing or other hair removal methods. Best of luck xx

I highly recommend laser hair removal, but not IPL. In my case, it did nothing. I did 5 rounds of laser using the Candela machines which are Medical Grade and dont actually hurt at all, IPL does. I found out I was pregnant while getting Candela treatments so had to stop and only had 5 but it took months for anything to grow back and even now, its not even a quarter of what it was pre treatment. I am waiting to move somewhere that offers medical grade before I start again :) I have also had 2 Aunts that were perfect candidates for IPL, have had a million treatments and still have to shave :/

Do Laser Hair Removal not IPL. It works a lot better as the laser goes all the way to the root of the hair. A lot of laser hair removal clinics have free consultation and they do a test patch as well. Don't waste your money on IPL. Do Laser. It's worth every cent.
