I'm a young mum of 1 and I'm overweight and I struggle. I find it hard to lose weight, stay motivated etc.I have tried herbal life drink but they were too powdery same with lose baby weight. I have also tried cutting out everything but being a emotional eater made the struggle even harder and a week later was back to old habits. I have also tried jenny Craig before having kids it works but as I'm a sahm we can't afford it any more. I find it hard to get motivated and stay on track. I was really just after anyone that has tried anything that has worked for them or a pen pal or anyone with advice that would be great. I have 40kg+ to lose and it's making me depressed which turns to eating which is a bad habit I've got and I just feel stuck and alone gross :( and I want to be a good role model for my family. Thanks in advance.

It's not the wait loss method that's the problem. When I found ways to deal with my emotions appropriately loosing weight became easier. So regular counselling, taking meds (if appropriate) made a huge difference. Once I got the depression under control I kept seeing my counsellor for weight loss. She doesn't advise me on which program to use but helps keep me on track, makes sure I'm not eating emotionally and helped me recognise when I was about to eat emotionally and what to do instead. It's still a work in progress. Point of all that you can go on 100 different programs but unless you sort out the underlying issue they won't work.
I would recommend the book "If not dieting, then what?" By Dr Rick Kausman. You can buy it online or on his website. It deals with emotional or "non hungry" eating. I have personally heard him speak, and as a dietitian use his techniques daily with my clients. The eating awareness diary is fantastic. Good on you for recognising that you are eating emotionally :) it is basically a non diet approach to weight loss.
I could have written this. Im an emotional eater and have 20kg to loose. It's hard when chocolate makes me feel better. I tried herbalife too and lost 9kg just before falling pregnant, and then I put more on during pregnancy. Everyday I keep trying, what I am doing now is putting a picture of myself in my bra and undies on the fridge and cupboard, I might put one in my wallet too to stop me getting change out 4 a coffee/chocolate. You are more than welcome to pen pal me, if u would like to chat
Try setting small goals don't look at the weight but try loosing enough to fit into
