do ur children study at a desk

Hi ladies, my son will be in yr8 and I have just started study. Was going.to buy a desk to put in lounge so we could both.use.it.
Do u have a desk for ur children?
Does it get used for homework?
Do u share it
If no desk what do u use and does it do the job
I don't want to buy a desk and have it in the lounge if it's to store crap on it
What's ur opinion??
