Do i have to use a bassinet?

Do I have to put my little one in a bassinet? i am not really a fan of bassinet's would rather put them straight into a cot so they are used to it, the baby's room is right next to ours so its not far away, but hubby thinks it's a bad idea to go straight to a cot

Can do whatever you want! Whatever works for you! Our baby slept in his pram (bassinet type attachment) til he moved into his cot.
Doesn't matter where they sleep (people used to put their babies in drawers lol) as long as baby and mummy are safe, happy, and healthy!

My babies went straight to cot. Well I co-slept at night for up to 2 weeks. (as long as I could stand it) and cot during the day.
Bassinet is a waste of money IMO, but each to their own!

Using a bassinet is a choice you don't have to use one i used one cause i liked to wheel him around the house with me during the day

No you dont. I didnt have a bassinet for the first 2 weeks. It didnt exactly work for my DS to go straight into the cot and I was always nervous cause he seemed so tiny. But he never moved from the one spot so it wasnt unsafe for him. Do what's best for you and bubs he/she will let you know what they like.
Ps he ended up co sleeping with me before I got the bassinet then when I did get it he refused to sleep anywhere else before I put him in the cot 3 months later and now he loves the cot.

My 3rd bub went straight into a cot. Just make sure he/she is right down the bottom so he/she can't slide under the blankets!!

My daughter went straight in to a cot but I bought a little insert thing that went inside the cot. It's hard to explain but it was like a little cushioned rectangle with raised edges. It made her seem not so small inside the cot and she slept in that for the first couple of months.

I used a bassinet with my first and from then he never wanted to leave our room and wouldn't sleep in his cot (I'm not saying his sleep issues were due to the bassinet but he just got use to us being close). For our second we put him straight into his cot. He was just in the next room plus I had the monitor also. It's up to you what you do. My mum couldn't understand me not using the bassinet with baby number 2 and would constantly go check on him when she was over. Do what you are comfortable with. In the end it was me getting up for night feeds and if I was happy to go into another room to do it that's all that mattered.
