Day sleeps to go for under 2yo.

Day sleeps to go for under 2yo.

I have a dd that is 5wks shy of 2 yrs old, is she too young to give up her day sleeps? Lately she won't go to sleep until 8:30-9:00, sometimes even later. We still try & put her to bed about 7 & are getting very frustrated with the carry on. She has a 4yr old brother who goes to bed about 7-7:30 so we can't really let her stay up late. Could this just be a passing phase (she is getting all 4 2yr old molars) or do we say goodbye to day sleeps. Thx

Maybe you could try to shorten the day sleep or make it earlier. It definitely depends on the child. My 2 year old still has a 1.5-2 hour nap and in bed by 7.30 but I have friends with kids a similar age who only have a half hour nap or no nap at all. Maybe you could try quiet time in the arvo instead of a nap?

My 2.5 year old hasnt had a day sleep since about 18 months. She doesnt go to bed til 9pm mainly because my organisational skills arent great and I used to work til 7pm and wanted to be the one to put her to bed. She has an hour of quiet time an arfternoon since she sleeps til 9-10am this is usually about 4-5 pm. (Sometimes doesbt work with her brothers and sister home from school)
So I would try quiet time and keep reinforcing bedtime. :-)

I would stop them for a couple of days and see how she goes. My ds stopped his daytime naps at around 2 and was in bed at 7 and asleep by 7.30, then slept through til 7 the next morning.
