CSA successful change of assesment

Has anybody had any success with having a child short change of assement actually changed? We are in the position where we are now the receiving parents after years of being the paying parent. When the other parent realised that they would become the "payee" they bought there own business (with what I ask because for years their income was assessed as just above the self supporting amount)and now they have an income that is "estimated" also well below the self supporting ampunt. They don't do a tax return and CSA has trouble getting a hold of them. Our current CSA is the minimum of about $40 a month to support a teenage girl. I would love to hear of other IMs experience to see if it will be just another waste of our time or if anyone has been successful? As well as time frames from start to finish. Thanks

I think it will be a waste of time. If they are hiding income nothing will change

Yes, I have had a successful COA. My ex husband dodged assessments by non-lodgement of tax-returns after we separated, and then continually under-estimated his income. As I was able to provide evidence of his banking and employment, they were able to do re-assessments based on that for a couple of years. The last assessment he filed a tax return that dropped his income by $80k. I filed a tax evasion report (anonymously) to the tax evasion hotline , and then filled out a change of assessment application, based on no change to his employment circumstances.
There are so many ways the departments data match now. If you know the financial institution your ex banks with, if you have his tax file number, all of this can help. You stand to lose nothing.

I have had a successful COA. My ex had his own business then put it all in his partners name and went on a minimum wage, CSA actually did their own COA as he was flagged but then it went back to his "wage" assessment after the 12mths. Needless to say he now pays a considerable amount more. They look at him being the reason the business exists (he's the tradesman) and worked it all out from there. Also you don't have to provide all the personal info on your paperwork, ie how much you owe on stuff and bank balances etc because they see all that info
