Hi :) thank you so much for a great page. I read it everyday.
Could you post an anonymous question for me?
I am 28 with a 10 year old son.
I completed high school (year 10) but didn't finish year 12 because I was pregnant and had my son half way through the year. Ever since I left and had my son , I have just worked to survive and never considered anything else.
I am really happy in my current job. Its entry level and will never go anywhere (cleaning job) but it suits my sons school hours so it suits us really well, but I am worried if I don't study something I will regret it later in life, as I probably wont want to do these entry level jobs forever.
I would love to study vet nursing (2 year course from what I have seen)
but I am worried by the time its over, and I'm nearly 30 , I wont be employable. Would someone employ a 30 year old with no prior experience in the field?
Has anyone studied later in life and had a good/bad experience?
Looking for some guidance and experiences.
Thank you in advance!

30 is not too old to be employed in a new career. Plenty of people change careers multiple times in their lives. I think an expected part of vet nursing is doing some work experience etc but work experience is always a great idea anyway so you can see if its really for you.
I think its a great idea, it only takes for you to get your foot in with one place to get experience & i think it would be an industry that doesnt favour young age, the hours are quite family friendly too. I studied teaching & graduated at 33. Its never too late, i think a lot of people float around in their 20s and settle down later & employers would know that. In some ways you offer much more as a long term, stable, committed employee. Good luck!
I'm currently studying vet nursing certificate IV through open colleges and there are people of varying ages welcome to the course. During the 2 years of study you are required to do placement in order to complete your study so you won't be without any experience when you finally go for a job once you finish study. I say look into it and go for it!
