I have always just taken the active pills and skipped the sugar pills purely out of convenience of not having to go through a period. I'm confused though about how it is apparently safe for you to take a weeks worth of sugar pills and you shouldn't get pregnant but women can miss one active pill and fall pregnant. It doesn't really make sense to me. The reason I ask is I can forget one and then take it the morning after, not even 12 hours late, and will then get spotting of bleeding that day .....so confused...and yes I know I should have spoken to my doc but I never think to ask while I'm there....thanks in advance everyone :)

Because its based on if you take the sugar pills which is basically like skipping pills so if you were to skip another pill or pills it would mean you were skipping even more pills and lowering your coverage.
Call or go and speak to a pharmacist. They will clarify things for you..
You don't get your period when you take the sugar pills you get something called withdrawal bleeding.
You need to let your uterus lining clear out occasionally. You can't skip periods forever due to uterine problems. There's a very good reason we have periods. There is also A LOT of misinformation on the FB thread. Please seek professional advice.
