Confidence boosting

Writing it to ask for some tips on tricks on boosting my 4yr old sons confidence. His teacher has said he is apprehensive, almost afraid to approach the other children in class and join in their games/activities. He wants to, he just lacks the confidence to do it. Anything is much appreciated!

Lots and lots of practice is a start. Rewarding any small attempts he makes. Make friends with a couple of the kids mums and organise a play date at home. Sometimes practice in smaller groups is much easier and gets them over the hurdle. Take him to the park on weekends and encourage him to play very close to the other kids. For example if you notice all the other kids are playing on one piece of equipment take him to that piece rather than getting your opportunity on the swing.

What about enrolling him an an activity with a range of children (younger are not as threatening as peers) that he will enjoy and has a natural talent for? Art, singing, martial arts? This might help him become proud of his achievements and ability
