We had been ttc for 6 months then I had an abnormal pap smear and referred for a colposcopy (with biopsy) with an expected wait time of 6 months, so decided to stop ttc til results were in. So you know what they say, as soon as you stop trying it will happen. Well, it's happened and we are pregnant one month after my pap and referral. Today I received my appointment notification and I will be approximately 8 weeks along at the appointment.
So my question is, have any mummas had this procedure done with biopsy while pregnant?
My doc was not very helpful and pretty much suggested a termination due to my circumstances (not just this, but depression and liver function also), and I will be seeing a new doc who is more supportive of my situation.

I was in the same boat with my second - had precancerous legions on my cervix (stage 2) & fell pregnant - my colposcopy was just done a couple weeks postpartum, my obstetrician told me that the legions can take quite some time to progress & aren't affected by pregnancy hormones (as in it wouldn't progress any faster like a breast cancer could) I would just call the gyno's & explain your situation, they may still want to see you but will advise if it's safe to proceed. All the best!
Hi there,
I dont have advice for you but I am dealing with the stress of wanting to have #3 but being too scared too. I had an abnormal pap in April and had a colposcopy and biopsy to confirm I had CIN2. I then had a LLETZ procedure done in May and now I am waiting for my 6mth post LLETZ colposcopy in December.
My gyno did say I could ttc 6 weeks post LLETZ but I guess I am terrified of still having CIN2 and not being able to treat it etc.
Congrats to you!! I would personally get a 2nd opinion about your options. Goodluck. Xo
Dee. :-)
don't be scared I had CIN3 back in 07 with the LLETZ procedure done in 08 after months of my GP screwing me around I put my foot down and told her I wanted a referral to a gyno who after 1 visit had me booked in for the procedure and biopsy. I had to have a smear done every 6 months for 2 years after 12 months and 2 clear smears hubby and I married and wanted to try for a baby on our honeymoon doc gave us the go ahead to do so, I had my 3rd smear done that was clear then right before my 4th and last smear I fell pregnant after 7 months of trying and 2 early stage miscarriages. i had a smear after my boy was born 5 years ago and it was clear! I then went on to have a smear every 12 months for 4 years after my last clear one I have been given the all clear to go back to every 2nd year! I have also had a second child in 2012 with no issues, and am currently TTC #3 but have needed fertility treatment lol :)
don't be scared to try for your baby, chance are if your doc got it all out it will not return. best of luck and lots of baby dust. x
I was meant to have one and like you fell just before. My abnormality was only low grade so gyn opted to wait until bubs was born. She also said that birthing can quite often clear out all the abnormal cells and make everything good again which it seemed to do for me! There was NEVER any mention of termination!
Thanks ladies! I have contacted the hospital and being a high grade abnormality they will wait til I am 14-16 wks along before conducting the procedure. They will not take a biopsy though as this has the potential to cause miscarriage, and I will have to do another colposcopy before my pregnancy reaches full term
