Child Development Diagnosis process

Child Development Diagnosis process

Some advice for a friend who just moved to aus. She has a 4 year old suspected of adhd or autism they are very unsure. I am helping her with a gp but was wondering if anyone had some good advice on a good and thorough developmental paedeatrician in sydney? Also support in daycare and school? Does anyone know if he would be better off in a special school? What about preschool? Cheer

I can answer on the school front. It varies from child to child. Many children I work with end up changing school settings at least once because there needs change over time. So may start in a specialist setting and then move into mainstream or vice versa.
Wether childcare or preschool that can also vary regarding early intervention therapies. 20+ hrs a week of therapy is recommended by the federal governments review of best outcomes for children with Autism. Some of these decisions will not be able to be made until a diagnosis is received.
I'd look at the Autism Awareness Australia web page as they are a huge source as far as autism in australia.
