Child Anxiety

Just wondering if any mums have a child with diagnosed anxiety. What signs led you to believe your child had anxiety? I'm concerned my 5yr old is showing signs - chewing / sucking on clothes, biting nails, stuttering though there is no stutter, melting down when I simply tell him off. His eating & sleeping habits are unchanged. I've tried talking to him, but he says everything is fine & that he's happy. Does this sound like anxiety or is it just a phase at this age?? He is in a stable home with very happily married parents.

Some signs of anxiety in my child 1. Refusing to try things that were new activities/ games 2. Complaining of a sore tummy 3. OCD type behaviours 4. Not putting hand up at school to ask questions or answer. I assume your boy has started school this year. It's possible he's copying other children with the nail biting and stutter. Most kids nail bite at some point in there lives. As to the tantrums kids are really tired when they start school and can have a lower melting point.
