Career Advice

I am a full time single mum of 3 kids. My youngest is 2 years old. I have been studying a teaching degree but have reached a point where I am wondering if this is what I really want to do. I have always wanted to be a preschool teacher and cannot think of anything else I want to do, but I am really doubting myself. I am over halfway through and am in the process of completing my first prac. I am also thinking of some sort of course that I can do just in case this all goes pearshaped and I can't pass my degree. I should not have this worry the way I do, but I can't help feeling that I might fail. I like the idea of counseling, or social work, but am thinking more pracitcal. I also live in a rural area and am wondering what my job prospects will be when I finish. I've been thinking of a Diploma of business admin through OTEN. Has anyone done this course? Does it have a practical component (like work experience)? I was going to do this course in addition to my degree. I was going to do it online in my uni breaks. I have also been thinking maybe I might defer my degree for a year or two. That is another option.

Stick to your degree. Having a degree shows potential employers more than just that piece of paper. Its commitment etc. People with teaching degrees pop up all over the place so it doesnt mean you are stuck with teaching forever.
My opinion of a diploma of business is to not waste your time and money.there is too many training organisations pumping these out and they really dont mean that much anymore. Not to mention your already at uni and raising 3 kids. Dont take too much on.
Stick to the degree, it will be worth it regardless of where you end up. Mix up your electives if your bored with uni at the moment. Have a look at the schedule, speak to a career advisor, change it up a bit.
I have a degree that has absolutely nothing to do with my current career path, but ithas helped me get many jobs since i finished, simply by having it.
Dont defer.. youll never go back. Cut down to one or two subjects instead. Remember the huge hecs debt you will have, make it worth it!!
Good luck!

Finish what you started. You won't be disappointed. You also have accumulated HECS debt (I'm assuming), which will remain if you choose to finish it or not. You'll get work. Even if it's just relief while your kids are younger.
