Blood when pooing

Both my kids (18mth & 4yrs) have had a tear in there bottoms from an episode of minor constipation. This has resulted in blood when they do a poo. My question is - has anyone else had this happen? I believe we eat reasonably well

Try again to answer:

Poor little babies  Please take both of your kids to your GP. This would be very painful for both of them and it may lead to them holding it in which in turn can lead to constipation and other problems, such as encropresis (sp?). Our 4 yo ended up getting this and it is not pleasant for your child to have, especially if they end up having to have an enema. 
Your GP should be able to help treat your kids and give you some suggestions and child-friendly medicine to help rectify their situation. Also, perhaps your diet is not as good or full of fibre as you think it is if they have both had this problem? Perhaps also discuss your eating habits (or at least those of your children) – and how much water they are drinking – with your GP and/or a nutritionist ASAP. Good luck.

Benefiber is a supplement you can put in your drink bottle or even in your cooking to boost the fibre content of you diet. Safe for kids as it is wheat. Obviously don't eat this if you are gluten intolerant. This won't heal their bottoms though. If it is lasting for more than a day or so I would go to the doctor.
