Firstly GREAT birth date my youngest son was born on this date in 2013. We did xmas as usual and then did a party like we have done for all our other kids. Just be prepared to have toys and gifts coming out your ears for weeks and weeks. I promised myself that we woukd never double up our sons bday with xmas.
Friends of mine do a party earlier in the year as the child was born Xmas day. That way the child isn't missing out.
My sons birthday is the 28th we always do a big Christmas and also celebrate his Birthday. We never double them up as that's a little unfair on him. You could always do a mid year party for him so you can spread it out.
I have a friend whose sons birthday is on the 29th of dec, they still do Xmas as usual but she takes all the decorations and Xmas things down before his birthday to make his day about him and feel special like a birthday
My sisters bday is 24th December. She absolutely hates it with a passion & used to get so upset when she was little as everyone would just combine her bday with Xmas & she'd only get one present lol. If my child's bday was close to Xmas I'd honestly Make it completely separate! He won't notice while he's really young but as he gets older he will... Good luck ?
I personally wouldn't make Christmas any smaller than you would otherwise have it, however just make sure there's clear definition between the two days. Do all the things you would do for any other children on their birthday, don't let Christmas being so close hinder his day. My hubby is born on 30 December and it's easier said than done as most people will be away on holidays visiting family etc, however make sure you celebrate with everyone who is available and you would normally invite to a birthday at any other time of year! :)
Each as a separate celebration, mine is close to xmas(day before) and they would double it. Didn't overly care for birthdays from around 12-13 but before that I felt left out as everyone(large family) had their own day.
One of my daughter's birthday is boxing day! Christmas has always been 1 major gift from santa with a few smaller gifts from mum&dad.I always made sure the gift she really wanted she got for her birthday wrapped in birthday paper with a birthday card. Sounds normally enough I know but over the years I have been completly astonished at friends and some family members who would wrap a birthday gift in x-mas wrapping paper, no card and sometimes just pulled money out of the wallet/purse give it to her and say happy birthday. The care and love from someone is not in the $$$ it's the time that's been taken to chose a gift for the particular person wrap it in the correct celabrating paper with a nice card.
