My last birth experience was abit scary, I had pre eclampsia, blurry vision, severe swelling, really high blood pressure and sometimes blacking out, I was admitted into hospital for a night. I was put on bed rest at 35 weeks 5 days so stopped work then ended up going into labour and having bub at 36 weeks. My blood pressure kept rising and I was monitored, each contraction I had bub heart rate was dropping. I got to 7cm and they decided to do emergency c section. Bub was having breathing problems and found out the umbilical cord was wrapped around so tight he ended up in special care for 2 weeks and i was in hospital getting monitored for 10 nights as I was getting infections, blood transfusion and blood pressure was still high. I'm pregnant with number 2 now and they are monitoring me closely for pre eclampsia again and said I can go with c section or try vaginal birth. I'm scared to try and end up with an emergency c section again and wondering if to go with an elective c section.

Personally, I don't think it matters how baby comes out, I always go for what's safest for mum and baby. What do you think will make you feel safer?
They said I have a high chance of having pre eclampsia again. My husband wants me to go c-section.
I have to admit I'd be going c-section to. A planned c-section is totally different to an emergency
Go with what makes you feel safest. If that's a planned c-section, then all good.
Dont feel guilty if you want a planned c/s. It's not the 'easy way out' that some people think, if it means that you are less stressed and can enjoy your pregnancy then it's worth it. We are fortunate to live in a country where we have these options available to us. The thought of another cs terrifies me and I am opting for a vbac this time, but I had no medical reason for a cs last time just an impatient ob. Just do what ever makes you comfortable and remember that it's ok to change your mind.
If you want to try vbac then I would suggest drawing up a detailed plan of what your limits are, how long you will labour for before being sent for cs, what interventions you would like in case of slow progress etc.
Best of luck mumma xx
Ive been in that exact situation and had another baby afterwards. I developed preeclampsia earlier but knew what to look for and was managed alot better due to knowledge of prior issues. I also attempted a normal delivery but did so with an epidural incase i needed to have a casarean (my back up plan). I ended up needing the casar but was more prepared so it was less traumatic. I also found having the epidural allowed me to be awake and know what was going on which helped me deal with the trauma better. Goodluck with whatever you choose to do
