Best/easiest time to get rid of dummy and bottle

Hi I have a 5 mobth old baby who is a self settler as long as he has his dummy ( only gets dummy for sleep time). He is such a content settled baby he puts himself to sleep has about 4 day sleeps and sleeps from 6-3 then has bottle and straight back to sleep untill 6. My question is when is the easiest time to get rid of the bottle and dummy? I also have a 2 yr old that still has bottles and it is such a mission to stop them I don't want it to be like that for my baby as well.

I found 1 the easiest time for cutting down bottles. Old enough to pack them with food (before offering a bottle) then they Arnt as interested as they are already full so you can eventually stop offering the bottle. But also too young to understand its a necessity for sleep. The dummy on the other hand I would say focus on cutting out bottles first then wait a few months before reducing and eventually stopping the dummy. One thing at a time.

I have just gotten rid of my sons dummy at 12 weeks. He only needed it the first few weeks to help him settle. He doesn't miss it at all.

I told my daughter when she was 2 that Santa needed her dummies and bottles for the baby reindeer, it worked a treat and she never asked for them again :)

At 12 months with my two I reduced their milk by a quarter each night added water so by night4 they just had water and then only offered a sippy cup which they decided they didn't want after a couple of nights. Only my son had a dummy for bed time only got rid of it over a week at 13 months started by letting him self settle day sleeps which just involved crying for a bit. Then went to night time sleeps same thing. Best thing we ever did was getting rid of bottles and dummy good luck

I've done it two different ways as 2 of my kids had dummies I'll probably cop a lot of crap over this one but I put a small hole in his dummy then he realised when he sucked it,it was flat and not a cherry kinda shape so after a day of him trying and trying he didn't need it anymore.his 14 now lol

My daughter now 6 however 4 years ago she left it for Santa Christmas Eve and Santa left her a special gift in place for the dummy she was happy as goodluck x

I got rid of all dummies before 1 year old.... bub 1 lost his at 10 months, bub 2 at 8 months and bub 3 at 6 months.... i dont like them at all, they are orthodontic hazards as well as choking hazards. Only reason my kids had them was because i had initial feeding issues with all 3.
A the ages they lost their dummies i found to be much easier because after a week they have forgotten completely that they even had one.
A 2-3 or even 4 year old remembers months even years later and there are more tantrums over it. as for the bottle, i would swap from a bottle to a cup and have miss/mr 2yr old drink it in the lounge before bed then tough love it putting them to bed. let them cry, have a fit, ect, as this is their way of telling you that they are not happy and if you cave and give them what they want they will do this every time if you say no.
dont be afraid to upset your child, they will get over it.
It is hard, but worth it in the end.
