Behavioural Problems

Can anyone give me some information on what's involved about getting my DS tested for behavioural problems?
He is nearly 3. He had grommets inserted earlier this year due to moderate hearing loss, and inability to speak full words and sentences (I have seen a slight improvement in words - but still struggles to string a full sentence together). He also seems to have a difficult time listening, he can follow simple commands (put shoes on etc.) but most of the time he will just chuck huge tanties when you ask him to do something, and when you tell him no he cant have or do something he screams the house down. He also is a very bad sleeper, he goes to bed fine most nights, however he constantly wakes, crying and rolling around his bed, and 80% of nights he brings his pillow to our bed and I give in and let him sleep there because I am to exhausted for the fight. I am just at the end of my tether, as it seems as though the devil has entered my child's body! (I also have a 1 yr old)
I hope I can get some answers from you wonderful mums!!! Thank you

Go to your GP and get a referral for a developmental pediatrician. You will find referrals to a speech therapist/psychologist or Applied Behaviour Analysis service provider also very useful. Beg, borrow, steal money to go privately for the diagnosis. Don't sit around on one diagnostic services wait lists as wait lists for those services can be very very long. If your GP refers you to one service and you are put on a wait list go back and see your GP and ask for a referral for another diagnostic service or pediatrician.
The diagnosis itself is not all that stressful, its mostly questions that you answer and them observing the child. I would rather go through the process and have it come back as all clear than miss a diagnosis and miss out on early intervention.
