Just allergies, any red inflammations after eating certain foods, swelling, difficulties breathing, his poo if he gets the runs or gets constipated etc. these days people usually introduce 1 food at a time and as a purée for example broccoli puréed or carrot puréed before mixing them together this way if he does have a reaction you know exactly what it is. Talk to your paediatrician about what foods are risky, for us it was egg and wheat he had a skin flare up after eating wheat bix and the same thing when he first had egg, but he now can eat both fine.

Same as poster above, try each new food over 3-4 days and watch bowel movements and any other reactions such as skin.
I tried all veggies first and then moved on to fruit basically because I didn't want my boys to like sweet things over veggies.

Do some research on 'open gut' in infants. I definitely wish I had of before starting my son at four months.

Please just be aware I know this is so common an more popular with so many more formula babies... But for almost any baby 4 months is just too young (science and biology will back this up) they just don't have the digestive system for it yet. Yes no harm may come of it but you can actualy cause a few problems feeding a baby so young. Just because a baby is interested in food and wants to play with it does not mean they are ready- a formula fed baby should be getting food earlier so they are getting nutrients (still not before at least 6 months) and Breast fed babies can be happy and health for the first year with only small amounts f food being introduced. My daughter didn't sho signs she was read to EAT till she was about 8 months (although she begun playing with food at 3 months when she started sitting.)
Fruit is a perfect first food , people who say not to give them fruit cos it starts tem wanting sweets have never tried breast milk! That stuf is sweeter than a lolly! Babies and humans are wired to gravitate toward sweet.
Just thought I'd offer the lesser talked about option as people jump on these responses very quickly saying my baby was fine and mine needed it he was hungry.

And please research rice cereal before giving that to your child!!
Hope I didn't offend you just wanted to remind you of how tiny their digestive system is and that they actually do not need food at 4 months and you very much can do damage by giving it that early. Xx
