Hi IM's. I'm having a baby soon and have had a name picked out that I absolutely love! Had it picked before I fell pregnant. But, there's a family member who has a child with that name. We only see them maybe once a year or so, so they're not that close. Should I ask if they mind if we use the same name? What is the etiquette here??

Just use it. We have 3 Patricia's, 2 Katherine's and a number of other repeats. It's totally fine.
And we have a couple of charlottes
I think if it's the same first name and the same surname then find another name.
If it's a different surname then choose it anyway. I wouldn't ask permission as they have no right to expect input into what you name your child.
