Avoiding the Biggest Trap of a first time mum!

Thought this one was worth sharing with everyone!

When you said that you didn't want to wake baby for school run's I got the impression that you think Babies need quiet to sleep.

This is a HUGE trap new mum's walk into.

Babies don't need quiet to sleep.

In their First week after Birth they will happily sleep through a full brass band or session at the range without batting an eyelid.

Hospitals aren't quiet they are in fact very noisy places and they sleep there.

They have just spent 9 months living in the middle of the equivalent of a steam engine with your heart and lungs constantly pumping and whooshing right beside them and your rear end tooting and your blood roaring past.

From the moment a new born gets home in order to avoid this trap ensure that during nap time the TV ROARS, the Vacuum SUCKS, and the Cupboards BANG! and they will continue to sleep anywhere through anything.

Don't have them always sleep in a cot either even if home. Change it up. Let them sleep tied to you while you tidy up, have the pram set up at home and throw them in there for a nap on occasion, don't let them form habits to dictate and limit what you can do and where you can be.

Nope. One of my three would wake from any noise. My other two would sleep through a brass band. After weeks of utter exhauastion trying to get this baby to sleep through noise, I gave up and made it quiet for him. ...and he finally slept. To this day he is a very light sleeper. Everybody's different I guess.

I did the above. I had bub strapped to me. Went for walks with pram. Tried to put him down in our normal home environment. All that did was exhaust me. What worked was a routine of the same noise, same place, same comfort rug (which replaced me.) what he needed was something to give him as much comfort as the person he had just spent 9 months inside. dont even get me started on the hospital. I couldnt even walk away to pee without him waking.
There is only one bit of advice new mums need. You do what works. Try anything and do what works for YOU
