Aged care courses- advice pls

Hi I'm thinking about doing a course in Aged Care, I was wondering if there's mummies out there that do this as a career and can tell me a little about what they do , if they like it , the best people to study through etc ? I was looking up Austcare and that looked good? It's something I have thought about doing for a while and it's time now for me to get back into the workforce , any advice tips would be appreciated thanks

I have just finished cert 3 in aged care through tafe i absolutely Loved it. It was 6 months 1 day a week so very achievable you also have to do 120 hours placement at an aged care facility. I have nearly finished my 120 hours only have 4 shifts to go. It is honestly the most rewarding job as long as you can handle showers/changing pads ect.. Because every days different you never know what to expect :) just message me back if you want to know anything else. Good luck you will love it

When I say everydays different you never know what to expect I just mean that sometimes things happen like For example an elderly man vomited at the table during lunch so things like that happen and you have to be able to handle it. Also having good time management and getting your jobs done during your shift.

I have my cert III in aged care and have worked in aged and disability care for seven years and have worked in nursing homes as well as home and community care. I currently work as a disability support worker in clients own homes and I absolutely love my job.
It doesn't matter too much where you get your cert but your placement is where you will learn heaps and hopefully get a job so give your placement your all, ask lots of questions and enjoy. It can be a really hard, dirty and confronting job but so rewarding and you will learn so much about life and the human spirit. Enjoy :)
