Just wondering at what age would you give your child a pillow to sleep on? My daughter is 16mths and moving into a toddler bed soon. The maternal health nurse told me recently they can't have a pillow under 2 years old due to sids. What have other mums done? Thanks!

My daughter had a full size pillow from 12mo as she was mOre comfortable with one. We also coslept from 3 weeks old and she's almost 2 and still breast fed, so as you can see we believe in doing whatever works for your unique situation. That is my advice to you, you know your Situation and child best....
I think it depends what you're comfortable with.
I gave my son a pillow at 13mths. Went to baby shop and got a cot pillow that was breathable and no pillowcase. He kept using his blanket as pillow which I thought was a lot more dangerous. My son is now 3 and still have a easy breathe pillow with a thin mesh zipper pillowcase on it so can't get his head caught in it. But I have friends who's kids have had normal pillows and cases from 6mths. All depends if you think she needs it and how comfortable you are with it
Around 10months but she is 2.5 now n still only uses it to fall asleep then rolls down the bed n doesn't seem to use it much.
I didn't give my boys one untill they were about 2 and then it was the thinnest one I could buy.
Do what works for you. My oldest was 16 months, 2nd bub was about 8 months and the next 2 since about 2 months. They all wiggled and woke up down the end of the bed / cot. Gotta remember child nurses etc are all 'told' what advice they have to give us and don't very often offer their own personal opinions as that makes them liable in this day should anything happen.
Give it a crack if you think it might make a difference.
My son got one about 18 months - 2 he didnt really care for one ( he is like me, i only occasionally sleep with a pillow i like to be flat) my daughter got one at 12 months she used to sleep on it ( it was my own one I just think she liked it cause it smelt like mum) test her with one of yours if she sleeps well with it get one, i thinks its more personal preference about what you do
You can get a breathable one made from tea tree. I got it at big W. Gave it to my daughter at 16 months as she was making pillows out of teddies and blankets. Is he showing signs of wanting a pillow? If not don't bother. If he is this one can be used from 12 months.
