7 month old with bad constipation

Hi IM, I have a 7 month old who is suffering from constipation, my poor llittle girl will strain and when I check there is nothing or small like pebbles that are really hard and dry. I have tried giving her pear, apple, prune juice and also give her fresh water thru out the day and it doesn't seem to make any different. I have given her broccoli and increased her vegetables too. It has gotten so bad that her bum is red and now has tiny tears. I have been to the doctors and they has put her on coloxyl oral drops for infants which she has been on for a couple of weeks, we started on the recommended dose and they told me to slowly wean her off it. She is bottlefed and I have stopped giving her any cereals cause they have added iron. The doctor tells me I'm doing everything right but I don't see any difference. If any one could give me any more advice I would love to hear how you handled this.

Try dried apricots, was the only thing that would help my daughter I cut them up and called them lollies. Also can soak prunes in water and then use that water to add to formula. Other thing you can try is novalact does an anti constipation formula for up to 12 mths

When she is straining give her a warm bath. It should help relax the muscles and loosen up her stools. Hopefully she will do the poo in the bath.
Also watch what you feed her (solids). Don't feed two serving of things like banana and potato in a day.
I also found that my daughter couldn't eat wheat at around that age. It made her seriously constipated so I stopped giving it to her for awhile. Try and look at what she's eating in terms of solids and how her stools are.
I hope it all goes well and would love to hear if there is any improvement!

Ask to get her checked for food intolerances. My friends little one has food intolerances and had to have suppositories, before they figured out what was wrong. If you don't think the doctor is listening get a second opinion.
