I had a scan yesterday, they found a gestational sac measuring 5w3d (spot on for my dates), however it was totally empty. They said it could just be too early but most likely not a viable pregnancy. Thing is, all my bloods etc have been fine, i have morning sickness, really sore boobs and all the other normal signs things are ok. But the empty sac has thrown me. With our previous babies, we saw at least *something* by now. They have referred me for more bloods and follow up scan and appointment with early pregnancy clinic in 2 weeks.
Has anyone had this and went on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby?

I was actually told not to go in for the first scan before 8 weeks as they may not be able to see anything. So hopefully just too early? Best of luck xx
Big hugs I completely understand how you're feeling.
I have had scans before 6 weeks, only 1 has ever showed anything but an empty sac. Sadly I have lost a few but I do have 2 gorgeous kids who showed nothing in sac until past 6 weeks.
I'd say it's a really good sign if your still feeling sick and levels are still rising on blood tests.

I'm only about 4-5 days ahead of you in my pregnancy I have all the same symptoms and when I went for my scan I was 5w4days he could only see the sack that's it nothing else so he told me I would have to come back to check bub is forming okay and I assume that would be around 8-9 weeks don't stress to much! Hopefully all is okay! It's very rare you see anything that early
My first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks (I felt 'fine', i.e. a bit sick, until about 7 weeks and then it started to clear up). Found out at my first OB appt when she did an informal scan. Then I had to go to get a proper ultrasound to confirm and then a D&C.
Anyway, in subsequent pregnancies she has seen me a little earlier for reassurance but still only at nearly 7 rather than 8 weeks as she says there is just not enough to see before that. She has also done blood tests in the lead up to check for rising hormone levels. I have a 2.5 yo and am 37weeks now. I had one miscarriage in between as well and for that one the hormones were obviously not right.
So, good bloods is a good sign and sounds like there is a chance there will be something to see in a couple weeks. You never know. Good luck.
When i got my request form for my first scan i was 5wk4days along. When i actually went for it i thought i was 8wks along. The sonographer read the 5wk4day and asked if thats how far along i was cos he said he likely wouldnt see anything that early on. I would wait a couple more weeks and see how you go.
