4 month old rolling onto tummy during sleeps

Hi IMs
My little boy is just over 4 months old and has been a great sleeper since 8 weeks old. He has just (in the last few days) learned how to roll over. So everytime I put him to bed he rolls over onto his tummy.

After a while he starts to cry. Initially I thought he was upset because he couldn't get back onto his back so I would turn him back over. But within a few seconds he would be back on his tummy again and upset (cry/whinge, rubbing his face on his hands, shuffling around).

I try to soothe him with pats but after a while, I just let him cry/whinge a bit and he seems to give up and fall asleep (I don't do CIO if he is very upset). So now my 'perfect sleeper' is waking up during the night upset and I am back doing one night feed to calm him down.

To complicate matters, he seems to have started teething at the same time!

Does this mean he is now a tummy sleeper? As I write this he has just done a 2hr daytime nap on his tummy. Will it get better once he gets better ability to roll back and forth? Did this happen with your bub around this age and did you just 'ride it out'?

My son used to do this I ended up rolling two towels to put along his body from his shoulder to his hip it stopped him rolling while asleep.

Omg I wrote in about the same thing but my son is a belly sleeper and is rolling from his tummy to his back and is waking up and doing the same thing! We are now doing a middle of the night feed to calm down also when he was sleeping 12 hours. Could do with some help also!
