Dinner Together

Hi Mummas,
My partner does not eat dinner with the kids and I even though he is home. He just flat out refuses to eat a meal with us and around the table together. We then end up dirtying the kitchen twice in one night, and do 2 sets of dishes and this takes up our evening and we don’t get time together. Instead, he games or watches the footy. I’ve talked to him so many times and he just has no interest to even talk about it. Am I being silly by being a little disappointed with this? I’d always hoped for a family dinner each day (we have no evening activities).

I would be disappointed as well. To me that feels like room mate behaviour rather than family behaviour. Has he mentioned WHY he doesn’t want to eat with the rest of you? I understand with family dynamics sometimes it isn’t possible to always sit down together.
