Is moving interstate between prep and grade 1 a bad idea?

We currently live in Melbourne with our 4 year old and 9 month old. We have decided to move to QLD in the next 2-3 years to be close to my family. We have no help here at all but would have a whole village if we move. Our babies absolutely adore my parents, my mum and our 4 year old have a particularly special bond. We could also afford a bigger backyard and the lifestyle for our babies, the love being outside. Hubby and I feel like while the move would be a huge change it really would be the best for everyone. We also want more babies in the future. We are waiting 2-3 years because hubby wants to finish his degree first rather than study online or change universities. I was ok with this but it means our 4 year old will do prep here in Melbourne and then year 1 in QLD. They’ve started to learn to write their name in kinder and the handwriting is sooo different between states. I’m now wondering if we should be trying to move earlier so he starts prep in QLD? Would it be so bad if we wait and move in grade 1? What would you do?

No. Kids move so much in primary school. My kids friends have changed so many times from kids coming and going.

My eldest is now year 8 and I'm wondering if the local highschool is academically going to get the results he wants. I'm considering moving him to another school because he might get better university options from next year. He'll have 2 years still in junior high to get used to the higher expectations of a better school to then be settled by senior high school.

At your Sona age, the only impact is friends which resolves itself quickly
