How to balance high school homework? DD has just started week 7 and it’s week 2 and we’re already struggling balancing the homework jump from primary school. How do those with a busy schedule manage it?
DD is up at 6am- get ready for school
715am leave home
745am bus to school
810am arrive at school
815-840 homework
840 school starts
Most afternoons once we’ve run around for sports training, doing household chores, dinner shower etc it’s 730 and starting homework however we’re still going after 830pm and it’s then 9pm or later before we’re close to getting her into bed (she’s 12 so realistically I’d like her to be in bed by 830 lights off by 9) but it’s not happening and we’re only week two in 😮💨 she’s very academic and enjoys school so that’s not the issue just my ability to balance our schedules is!

The school should have a homework policy that would include the expected time to be spent on homework for each year level. More than an hour each night seems excessive for year 7. Reach out to the school for some clarification. Time management is an important skill.
(Australia) Most assessments these days are done online through student portal. Often done in class. Our highschool doesn't really set home work unless it's unfinished work from class.
