I have a nearly 7yo who is autistic and adhd, she was previously medicated with stimulants and is currently on non stimulant medication for her adhd. Since we have started the stimulants her anxiety has increased so much ( it’s 10x worse with stimulants hence why she stopped them, but it is still present without them). It is mostly worst at night time, every single night she struggles to sleep in her bed as she is worried about mice, even though we have never had mice in our house and I even cleaned her room from top to bottom to prove their was nothing which hasn’t helped. She also gets anxious with food being “okay” to eat. If I give her something to eat I generally get asked at least 3-4 times if the food is okay or if it will make her sick. Sometimes she will even just refuse to eat as he doesn’t believe me. The other big issue we have is with doors being closed on her this includes public toilets, in the shower in her bedroom pretty much anywhere that is a confined space. This makes getting her to shower extremely difficult and when we are in public needing to use a public bathroom is extremely difficult. I’ve tried so many different things but honestly I don’t know how to help her. If anyone has any ideas it will be much appreciated.

Psychologist, this is something that can worsen so needs professional help. There is sometimes an overlap with those diagnoses and OCD. There are also dieticians that work with kids re sensory issues with foods. I would have a look around for specialists in your area. If your child has NDIS this could assist with the costs
