Has anyone been able to register with the Nursing Board with a criminal history?
The charges are mostly from 20 years ago when I was younger. But there is an Obstruct/Assault Police charge from 12 years ago.
I know there is no excuse for my behaviour, but it was a really bad time for me. I regret it all and wish I could take it all back. I have done a lot of work on myself and have changed. I would like to follow my dream of becoming a nurse, but I'm unsure if I'll be approved by the AHPRA Nursing Board. I have rang them for advice but they are unable to tell me until it's time to register.
I have been approved for my Blue Card, NDIS card and no recordable offences show on a Police Check.

How old were you? If they aren't coming up on your police check I wouldn't say anything about it...
Were you actually convicted in court? That's the key.
No conviction recorded - no requirement to disclose the charges. If it doesn't come up on your crim history, then you can tick no on that box - the question is "have you been convicted" not "have you been charged".
I have been nursing since 2020, I had an assault charge on my police record, from 10 odd years prior, AHPRA sent me an email saying they received my police check and noted the result and took it no further. (It was a diversion order). Every other police check I had completed the charge never showed up. When you do your application for registration be honest with them and let them know that there is something there, after 20 years i would consider that to be a good length of time to show that you are no longer that person.
