Cleaning for Anglicare, anyone work for them?

Hi, anyone work with Anglicare as a service worker? Cleaning age care home's or for NDIS.

I have an interview next week and don't know how to mentally prepare myself for it.

I work in retail and have to clean the work toilet/public toilet and clean around work etc but haven't professionally cleaned before.

What do I need to know and what to ask etc.

They will ask some health and safety questions, like can you be on your feet doing physical work for x hours, what would you do if you saw a spill. Also questions related to the people in care and privacy like what would you do if family asked you a question about meds, what would you do if a resident got upset with you, what would you do if it looked like people were having a private discussion in the area you had to clean. They would also ask your thoughts on religion since its religion based (they won't care if you're not religious they just obviously wouldn't hire an anti christ). Then basic questions like your experience, availability the lovely questions about teamwork and initiative. Being in retail you will have a lot of transferrable skills so don't overthink the questions just say the first common sense thing that comes to your head and correct yourself if you're wrong.

I work for Anglicare as a domestic assistant in their homes and I love it. I have been doing it for 5 months now and have regular weekly clients, I absolutely love old people. I have aged clients ask me if I like the job, and my answer is, no body likes to clean but I love the fact that I'm helping someone that needs help, I choose to help people.
Every home is different, some are neat and tidy, some are hoarders, everyone lives differently but just remember your there because they need help. Some aged people don't see anyone all week, so when U visit for that 2 hours all they want to do is have a conversation, as long as U can work and talk U will be fine.
I find the Anglicare Senior staff very helpful and U can call them if your unsure or if your having issues.

The interview was done in a group setting and it was a pretty easy process. Once U have the job U will need to do a physical and have clearances then they get you to do 2 weeks (paid) at the office learning the do's and don'ts, and then you go out with a senior care worker for your first day and they are very helpful.
Anglicare also work around the hours your available, for instance I am permanent part time working between school hours. It's a really rewarding job good luck!
