Layby holidays?

I would like to book an oversees holiday in a years time. Is there anything available where I can pay for it weekly leading up to it? I don’t want to be scammed so looking for something legit

There is lay by holidays but I never trusted them even before covid. We went to see a travel agent to organise our holiday as we had never been overseas before and we were able to pay it off over a few months, nothing could be booked until it was finished but at least we knew the cost and what had to be paid and could tweak it a bit during this time as it was a 6 week holiday through UK and Europe.

The problem with these layby holidays (or any pay it off option) are they are usually more expensive, locked in to unfavourable terms & conditions & if either the company goes bust or your circumstances change & you can't go, you've lost your money.

I'd advise getting a bank account & saving into that instead. Spend your year enjoying looking at destinations & prices so you know a good deal when it comes up.

Have a great time. :)

You can afterpay flights now, and cruises give you long time to pay, you just pay the deposit and then get a date to pay the rest by, about 2 months before you sail.
Here’s how I book on a budget:
Book sale flights
Book accom (booking.com /wotif etc you don’t even pay a deposit, pay at the hotel).
After I’ve booked I then spend my next pays buying insurance, passports, bags, etc.
then clothes if climate is different.
Then closer to it I’ll book and prepay activities/tours and airport parking and transfers and those kind of costs. And any costs you have of leaving your home/pets.
So that when it’s time to go, I just pay for the hotel bill.
